Arrival - Algiers

Welcome to the historic city of Algiers!! Your guide will take you to the hotel for a rest. When you feel ready, you will take a downtown walking tour, including the Grande Poste, the port, and historic mosques. If you have time head up to the picturesque view from the Basilica Notre Dame d’Afrique.  For those with early morning arrivals, you may want to spend the afternoon on a tour through the historic UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah. After breakfast, you will drive to Cherchell, which was once the capital of the ancient Numidian kingdom. Visit the archaeological museum and ancient ruins scattered throughout the city. Next, you’ll will depart for the UNESCO World Heritage Roman site of Tipaza. This is arguably one of the most stunning Roman cities in North Africa. Walk down the ancient Roman road beside the clear Mediterranean Sea and get a glimpse of what it would have been like to live in this Roman settlement. Here you will visit the museum and the archeological site, which includes the largest basilica in North Africa and the Basilica of St Salsa, who was a local martyr in the 4th century. On your way back to Algiers, stop at the pyramid-like structure of the Tombeau de la Chrétienne (royal mausoleum of Mauritania). Accommodation Options: 3, 4, 5-star

Algiers - Setif - Djemila - Constantine

Today you will have an early morning departure, winding through the beautiful Kabilye mountain range. Stop in Setif to see the National Museum of Archaeology which hosts the remarkable and intact mosaic, the Triumph of Dionysos. After the museum, you will travel to Djemila. The UNESCO World Heritage site of Djemila, which means ‘Beautiful’ in Arabic. Certainly, the site lives up to its name; uniquely situated in the rolling hills of the Algerian countryside. Start the tour in the museum to see the impressive mosaics. Your guided tour of the site will take you to the forum, basilicas, baptisteries, Arch of Caracalla, Temple des Septimes, and one of the world’s best-preserved Roman markets. Constantine - Tiddis - Constantine

After breakfast travel to the Roman hillside site of Tiddis, which offers excellent views over the surrounding region. You will begin by walking the roman road through a triumphal arch and to the sanctuary of Mithras, the Christian basilica, and Roman homes. After, return back to Constantine for a city tour. Constantine is an incredibly unique city, split in half by a massive canyon, the Rhumel Gorge. You will definitely want to walk over the Sidi M'Cid Bridge which was once the highest suspension bridge in the world at 175 meters. If time remains, explore the museum of Cirta, explore the local Kasbah, and the Palace of Ahmed Bey. Accommodation Options: 3, 4, 5-star

Constantine - Timgad - Lambaesis - Batna

You will want to get an early start today to travel south to the unforgettable archaeological sites of Timgad and Lambaesis. Before you reach Timgad stop at Medracen (Ancient Numidian Tomb), which is 58 meters in diameter and 19 meters tall. Spend the afternoon at the UNESCO site of Timgad, founded by Emperor Trajan in AD100. This is one of the best-preserved Roman cities in North Africa. Here you will discover its library, amphitheater, temples, the Arch of Trajan, and its city forum. Afterward, if you have more time in the day, you will visit the large Roman legionary at Lambaesis. Batna - Ghoufi - Gorge - Batna
After breakfast, you will travel south through the impressive ‘Grand Canyon’ of Algeria, the Balcons de Ghoufi. The majority of other tourist circuits leave skip this location, but an adventure through these unseen Saharan cliffsides and historical sites is well worth the journey! Here you will see some of the troglodyte homes built into the side of the mountain. Enjoy the beautiful ravines, palm trees, and traditional villages. Return back to Batna for the night. Batna - Algiers - Ghardaia
Hillside town of Ghardaia Today you will take a flight to Algiers from Batna or Constantine and then transfer to a flight to Ghardaia. Beforehand, if you have time between your arrival to Algiers and departure to Ghardaia you may explore more historic sites in Algiers. Get ready for the adventure you have ahead. The unmatched unique culture and history of the UNESCO World Heritage M’Zab valley will without a doubt be a highlight of your trip.
