Arrival - Algiers
The Grand Poste in Downtown Algiers

Welcome to the historic city of Algiers. After meeting your guide, you will transfer to your hotel.

If you have an early arrival, you will take a downtown walking tour, including the Grande Poste, the port and historic mosques. If time permits, travel to the summit of the Basilica Notre Dame d’Afrique for a picturesque view.

For those with early morning arrivals, you may want to spend the afternoon on a tour through the historic UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah.

Algiers - Tipaza - Cherchell - Tomb of the Christian - Algiers
Roman Ruins along the sea

Tipaza Roman ruins along the Algerian coast

After breakfast, you will depart for Cherchell, which was once the capital of the Numidian kingdoms. Take a guided tour of the museum before traveling to your next destination, the UNESCO World Heritage Roman site of Tipaza. Tipaza is arguably one of the most picturesque Roman cities in North Africa. Stroll down the ancient Roman road next to the clear Mediterranean Sea and get a glimpse of what it would have been like to live in this Roman settlement. Here you will visit the museum and the archeological site, which includes the largest basilica in North Africa

When you are ready, you will travel back to Algiers. On the way, you will explore the pyramid-like structure of the Tomb of the Christian (Royal Mausoleum of Mauritania).

When you are ready, return to Algiers for the night.

Algiers - Djemila - Constantine

Today you will have an early morning departure to wind through the beautiful Kabilye mountain range until you reach Djemila.

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Djemila, means ‘Beautiful’ in Arabic. The site lives up to its name as it is uniquely situated amongst rolling hills. Start the tour in the museum to see the impressive mosaics. Your guided tour of the site will take you to the forum, basilicas, baptisteries, Arch of Caracalla, Temple des Septimes, and one of the best-preserved Roman markets in the world.

Continue to Constantine for the night.

Constantine - Tiddis - Constantine

Start the day with a trip to the hillside Roman site of Tiddis.. You will begin by walking through the triumphal arch and passing by the sanctuary of Mithras, the Christian basilica, and the Roman houses.

After, return to Constantine for a tour of this historic city. Constantine is sure to impress any visitor as it is located above the Rhumel Gorge. You’ll want to walk over the  Sidi M'Cid Bridge, once the highest suspension bridge in the world at 175 meters. If time remains explore the Museum of Cirta, explore the Kasbah, and the Palace of Ahmed Bey.

Medracen - Timgad - Lambaesis - Timgad

Timgad's well-preserved Roman Ruins

You will want to get an early start today to travel south to the unforgettable historical and archaeological sites of Timgad and Lambaesis. Before you reach Timgad stop at Medracen (Ancient Numidian Tomb), which is 58 meters in diameter and 19 meters tall.

Continue to Timgad and explore this impressive site and museum. Here you will discover the library, temples, amphitheatre, and the arch of Trajan.

Your group may want to have lunch and then travel to Lambaesis to see the large structure of the legionary base. Return back to Timgad for your night in Hotel Trajan.

Ghoufi Canyon - El Oued

Ghoufi Canyon

After breakfast you will travel south through the impressive Balcons de Ghoufi, also known as the “Grand Canyon of Algeria”. Often unvisited by both foreign and local tourists, this circuit through unforgettable natural beauty and historical sites is well worth the visit! Here you will see some of the troglodyte homes built into the side of the mountain. Enjoy the pictureques scenery of beautiful ravines, palm trees, and traditional villages.

When you are ready, travel to Biskra and spend the night in the beautiful oasis town of El Oued.

El Oued

After breakfast, you can have some time to explore the area. You will visit the El Oued's Medina, explore the grandeur of the Palais des Raïs, or take a stroll along the banks of the Oued Souf, and visit the spiritual Zaouia Tijaniya. There can be time for an optional outing to the sand dunes in the region.

If time permits, you can visit the museum of the local culture and history. You may also visit the museum next door which highlights the life of a Swiss writer and explorer, Isabelle Earberhardt, who lived an interesting life and coined the phrase “city of 1000 domes” describing the city of El Oued. You can also opt for a relaxing afternoon at the hotel and enjoy the pool.

El Oued - Touggourt - Ghardaia

When you are ready, you will set out to Touggourt. Here you will visit the Palace of Tamasin, which was established before the arrival of Islam. The palace included markets, housing and Mosques within a walled area for protection.

Continue through desert cities and oases until you reach the M’Zab Valley. Rich in culture and history, the UNESCO World Heritage region of the M’Zab valley is one of the most unique regions in the country.

Spend the night in the Oasis by the historic village of Beni Isguen.

Full Day in M'Zab Valley

Take a walk through these ancient streets

Today you will step back in time as you enjoy the local customs and culture while visiting the historic cities and sites in the M’Zab Valley. Visit traditional markets, enjoy the lively atmosphere colors, and unique architecture. You will explore important religious monuments and mosques, while admiring this region’s natural beauty.

Ghardaia - Algiers

Spend the day relaxing in the Oasis or go out for more exploring in this culturally rich region. Take an evening domestic flight back to Algiers.

Algiers

Today you will have a full day city tour with your guide. You may start the day off exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah and wind your way through the labyrinth of streets and alleys. Enjoy learning about its ancient past as you visit ancient mosques and museums.

In the afternoon, you will have time to visit the Bardo Museum or the Museum of Archaeology and Islamic Art.

Today you will have a full day city tour with your guide. You may start the day off exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah and wind your way through the labyrinth of streets and alleys. Enjoy learning about its ancient past as you visit ancient mosques and museums.If you have time before your flight, you will take a guided city tour of the Monument to the Martyr, which offers amazing views and the beautiful Botanical Garden of Algiers. Your guide will take you to the airport for your departure flight.
