Arrival - Algiers
Arrive in Algiers and transfer to your hotel for two nights.
Depending on your arrival time, you can take an afternoon tour of the city including sites to Place des Martyrs (17th century El Djedid Mosque), Place Emir Abdelkader, Grande Poste, and other sites if time permits.

Algiers - Tipaza - Cherchell - Tomb of the Christian - Algiers

After breakfast, you will travel to Tipaza to explore this beautiful Roman site beside the Mediterranean Sea. You will not want to miss the historic basilica, which is said to be the largest in North Africa. Explore the museum, which hosts incredible mosaics found in this region. If you enjoy seafood you may want to try out a local restaurant for a fresh fish lunch in Tipaza. Continue on to Cherchell to visit two archaeology museums. On your way back to Algiers, you will stop at the pyramid-like structure of the Tomb de le Christian.

Algiers - Setif - Djemila - Constantine
Today you will have an early morning departure in order to wind through the Kabilye mountain. Your first stop will be in Setif to visit the National Museum of Archaeology which hosts the remarkable and intact mosaic Triumph of Bacchus.
Continue to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Djemila, which in Arabic means ‘beautiful.’ The site is located between rolling hills and lives up to its name. Here you will explore this large Roman city with the unique basilicas and a covered baptistery, Forum, theatre, and historic market. You will also have a guided visit of the museum. Travel to Constantine for the night.

Constantine - Timgad - Lambaesis - Constantine
Today you will drive from Constantine to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Timgad. Here you will discover the library, temples, amphitheater, and picturesque arch of Trajan. Make sure you do not miss the museum with large mosaics. After this, travel to Lambaesis to see the historic Roman legionary base.
Return back to Constantine for night.

Explore the hillside Roman site of Tiddis which offers excellent views over the region. You will begin by walking through the arch, the sanctuary of Mithras, the Christian basilica, and Roman houses.
Return to the breath-taking city of Constantine. You will explore the suspension bridges, the Constantine museum, Kasbah, Palace of Ahmed Bey.

Constantine - Algiers - Djanet
In the morning fly back to Algiers and then take an evening flight to Djanet in southern Algeria. Arrive in Djanet (oasis town at foot of Tassili mountains on edge of vast sand dunes of Erg Admer).

Overnight in a local guesthouse.

Djanet - Tadrart - D'in-Djarena
Depart in 4x4 for Tadrart. Here you will explore the extraordinary landscape of desert mountains, canyons, rock arches, towering sand dunes, and cave and rock paintings (12,000 BC to 100 AD), which depict cattle, giraffes, and people.
Dinner and camping will be in the canyon of D’In-Djarena, which is surrounded by dunes. This will be your first night under Saharan stars.

Tadrart - El Biredj - Moul El Naga

Continue through Tadrart along El Biredj (wide desert canyon and valley) to Moul el Naga (particularly beautiful orange sand dunes) for an overnight.

Depart in a 4x4 for Zouatane (dunes and rock art, spectacular landscape) for overnight.

Zouatane - Tin Merzouga
Head for red dunes (up to 1,800 ft high) of Tin Merzouga with a circuit to some of the region's most stunning rock arches (including the "hedgehog.")

Tin Merzouga - Tilfazou - Oued Amais
Depart in 4x4 for Tilfazou, Oued Amais, and see the famous cow painting.

Return to Djanet for lunch and explore the unforgettable colorful market, enjoy local dates, and purchase a cheche (Touareg turban).

Djanet - Algiers
Depart (often middle of the night) on a flight back to Algiers. Once you arrive back to Algiers you may want to transfer to a hotel for some rest. If you have the energy for a tour, we recommend an additional city tour in Algiers to the Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
