The Grand Poste in Downtown Algiers

Welcome to the historic city of Algiers. After meeting your guide, you will transfer to your hotel. If you have an early arrival, you can take a downtown walking tour to visit sites including the Grande Poste, the port, and historic mosques. If time permits, ascend to the Basilica Notre Dame d’Afrique for a panoramic view of the city.

For those with early morning arrivals, you may want to spend the afternoon on a tour through the historic UNESCO World Heritage Kasbah.

After breakfast, you will travel to Tipaza for beautiful views and well-preserved Roman ruins along the Mediterranean Sea. Explore its historic basilica, said to be the largest in North Africa. If you enjoy seafood, you may want to try a local restaurant nearby for a fresh fish lunch.

Next, continue on to Cherchell to visit two archaeological museums hosting many Roman antiquities. Finally, on your way back to Algiers, you will stop at the mysterious pyramid-like structure of the Tomb of the Christian.

You will be transferred to the airport to board a domestic flight to Djanet, the desert oasis town where your Sahara adventure will begin. Most flights run later in the evening. Upon arrival in Djanet, you will be transferred to a local guesthouse for the night.

The entry point for your legendary adventure through the deep Sahara Desert is the oasis town of Djanet. Located on edge of the vast sand dunes of Erg Admer, this is your last stop before entering the Tassili mountains.

In the morning you will meet your team of guides and drivers and depart in a 4x4 for Tadrart. Equipped with all the gear you’ll need, head towards the extraordinary landscape of Sahara Desert mountains, canyons, and rock arches. You will be making brief stops along the way to marvel at ancient rock art paintings (12,000 BC to 100 AD) depicting cattle, giraffes, and people.

Your guides will setup your camping arrangements in the canyon of D’In-Djarena, surrounded by yellow dunes for your first night under Saharan stars. A freshly cooked dinner will be served to you.

Today you will continue traversing through the picturesque Tadrart region along El Biredj, which is a wide desert canyon and valley to Moul el Naga. As you drive deeper into the Sahara, you can notice the grand sand dunes will change from a lighter color to a unique and beautiful reddish-orange hue.

Local guides explain ancient cave art

After enjoying breakfast surrounded by incredible natural beauty, depart in the 4x4 vehicle for Zouatane. You will spend another day surrounded by spectacular other-worldly landscapes and dunes. Your guide will stop at various places to see the ancient rock art, which will give you an idea of how this Sahara region was once a wildlife-rich savannah plain.

Today you will see distinct rock formations that have been carved by wind and rain over centuries. Walk up close for a selfie at the locally famous "hedgehog" rock formation, standing alone in its barren landscape.

Throughout the day, your guide will make additional stops at various rock formations and arches. Your team of guides will set up camp at Tin Merzouga, which is near the Niger and Libyan border. If you dare, hike up the nearby ‘red-colored’ sand dunes which reach up to 18,000 feet high and be rewarded with an unforgettable view.

In the morning, depart by 4x4 for more once-in-a-lifetime adventures. If you have time, stop by a ‘World Cup’rock formation and a hidden oasis.

Finally, continue to Oued Amais to see the famous crying cow painting.

Today you will take a domestic flight back to Algiers. When you arrive in the city, you will check into the hotel and spend time relaxing after such an incredible Sahara adventure.

Today you will have a full day exploring Algiers. If you haven’t already, you will begin with a walking tour of Algier's ancient Kasbah. You may also visit some local museums such as the Bardo Museum, and the Museum of Archaeology and Islamic Art. Each of these museum is well worth a visit.

If you have time before your flight, your guide will show you more of the historical sites in the city. Your driver will take you to the airport for your departure flight.
