Rich and I had a wonderful time in Algeria. Sofiane looked after us extremely well and made us feel like friends rather than tourists.

The other guides we met included Abla in Constantine – what a delight, Fatima and Oma and Sofiane in Algiers. Abla was exceptional and we loved Constantine and her company. We were aware travelling during Ramdan wasn’t the easiest for the guides and we certainly appreciated all the extra effort they made (e.g. providing lunch) and having to work themselves whilst fasting. Fatima was somewhat distracted with the care of her baby however we understood this and delighted in getting to meet people in their ‘real’ lives. Sofiane #2 in Algiers was another delight, and he ticked all my boxes for wanting to know more about history and archelogy.

Accommodation was better than expected and in particular we enjoyed the guest houses which had a traditional flavour and decor.
